Nota d'usoL'aggettivo italiano grave riferito a malattie, ferite o in generale a situazioni da difficili da affrontare, non corrisponde all'aggettivo inglese “grave” in contesti informali. Il termine più usato in questi casi è “serious”: Ha una malattia grave, she's got a serious illness (non she's got a grave illness); La situazione è grave, the situation is serious. L'aggettivo inglese “grave”, invece, appartiene a un registro piuttosto alto anche se è comunemente usato in collocazioni come: grave danger, grave concerns, grave errors e grave doubts. -
